The book works on lots of levels. If you want practical, easy-to-follow nutritional and lifestyle suggestions on what you can do to improve your health, read Part Two of the book. It gives simple guidelines that anyone can understand and use. If you are up for learning a bit more of the profound philosophy behind Oriental medicine, then definitely read Part One. There is some serious wisdom about human nature, based on the Taoist underpinnings of the medicine, yet all very easy and natural, not heavy handed at all. This is all the information your healthcare practitioner wants you to know, but doesn’t have the time to explain to you.I was reading and thinking, “This is interesting” in a kind of distant way. About a third of the way into it, something happened, and I got it. This is about ME, not just some abstract idea. It was like a door opened and I could see myself in each of the chapters after that.
The author manages to be clear and articulate about why we need to look more deeply at our lifestyle choices without being “preachy.” There is a sense that the author has lived the imbalances, made the mistakes herself, and simply wants to spare the rest of us some of the unnecessary pain if she can.
John Mackey, CEO of Whole Foods Market, endorses the book. “Rhythms of Change provides a new perspective on how to make simple yet profound changes to live with more awareness and satisfaction. Easy to understand and implement. A definite read!” I have to agree. I sent a copy to a friend who is now at the grocery store, book in hand, buying the foods recommended for blood sugar imbalance. It seems this book has come at the right time for a lot of us who are ready to change our habits to be more in align with ourselves and life.

Rhythms of Change Mary Saunders 9780615931456 Books Reviews
This book is so insightful and the methods are easy to integrate. I often recommend this book to colleagues and patients.
Rhythms of Change offers a no nonsense approach to achieving balance in life. The author's simple, practical style conveys a multidimensional understanding of how people can find balance for themselves--nutritional, emotional, and spiritual. A simple book that works on many levels.
The first part of the book describes the process of change in the natural world as viewed from Oriental medicine. The changing of the seasons, the ebb and flow of life. The author shows how aligning with these natural rhythms makes implementing lasting change in your life possible. The second part dives into the practical, day-to-day stuff nutritional information and recipes, supplements, and easy practices to implement. Simple and practical things, but I'm finding they lead to some substantial benefits.
There is great information here for people at all different levels, and stages in life. I would recommend it to anyone.

Outstanding. Approaching two decades as a practitioner, I am thrilled to be able to suggest this for my patients. So grateful that this author has taken the time to give simple yet profound explanations with practical advice.
What a practical lifestyle guide for anyone who is seeking to achieve well-being using principles of Traditional East Asian Medicine. Mary Saunders does a superb job distilling the application of yin/yang and five elements to assist consumers with staying balanced and well. The book includes self-assessments and suggestions for maintaining continual balance through the seasons and through one's life environmental, physical and emotional changes.
